This Riviera Zenith BZ1 3″ flush-mount compass for high-speed boats is a magnetic marine compass, model BZ1/AV. This version features a flat black compass card, a black housing, and 12 V LED lighting. The high-speed version is designed for vessels with speeds exceeding 25 knots and is recommended for boats up to 8 meters.
The compass has an apparent card diameter of 80 mm and a 5° graduation, providing a clear course reading. The internal gimbal suspension stabilizes the compass card, while the integrated manual compensator allows for the correction of magnetic interference after installation. An anti-glare screen reduces distracting reflections during reading.
The BZ1/AV is flush-mounted in a horizontal surface such as a deck, console, or dashboard. The compass has a maximum outer diameter of 139 mm, a total height of 121 mm, and a mounting depth of 65 mm below the mounting surface. The required cutout diameter is 89 mm.
The mounting location should be placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous parts. The boat's mains voltage must be checked before connecting the wiring for the LED lighting. After installation, the compass should be professionally compensated using the adjustment screws, which are accessible through the lower transverse openings.
This variant is balanced for zone A in the northern hemisphere. The compass is manufactured in Italy and designed to be disassembled and repaired. It should be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. The Zenith BZ1 comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
Compasses in this series are type-approved according to Italian Ministerial Decree no. 388 of September 29, 1999. An individual MED certificate is not documented as included with this standard variant.
