Riviera Zenith BZ1 Slim 3″ flush-mount compass is a magnetic marine compass with a flat, top-reading black compass card and black housing. It is intended for horizontal, flush-mount installation in the instrument panel of sailboats and motorboats of approximately 6–11 meters, including both displacement and high-speed vessels.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 80 mm with graduation every 5°. Course indication functions magnetically without an electronic power supply, while the integrated blue LED lighting connects to 12 V. Built-in manual compensation allows for the correction of magnetic interference after installation.
The compass features an internal double gimbal suspension system that reduces the impact of the vessel’s rolling and pitching. The compass liquid is Shell Sol D/70, and an elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the liquid to prevent bubble formation within the temperature range of −30 °C to +60 °C. The standard calibration is for magnetic zone A.
The external flange measures Ø119 mm, the total height is 120.7 mm, and the installation depth is 55.7 mm. The transparent dome is made of polycarbonate with resistance to UV radiation, impact, and scratches. A removable anti-glare cover improves readability and provides access to the mounting screws.
During installation, the side screws are loosened so the anti-glare cover can be lifted and removed. The compass must be secured using the two designated screws; the other screws must not be loosened. Ensure the vessel's voltage is 12 V before connecting the LED wires. After mounting, the compass should be professionally compensated and placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects.
The compass should be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. Filling plugs and internal screws must not be loosened, and the compensator screws must be adjusted using a non-magnetic screwdriver. The model is repairable, but internal repairs must be performed by the manufacturer. The warranty is 36 months from the production date under the applicable warranty terms. The compass type is type-certified according to the MED Directive 2014/90/EU; an individual MED certificate must be ordered along with the product.
