This Riviera Zenith BZ1 SLIM 3″ flush-mount compass is a magnetic navigation compass for horizontal, flush mounting in an instrument panel or deck. This variant features a black housing and a black, front-reading compass card, which is designed for direct reading from the steering position.
The compass card has a readable diameter of 3″/80 mm and is graduated every 5°. Internal gimbal suspension stabilizes the compass during vessel movement, while the built-in manual magnetic compensation allows for the correction of interference from the installation. The anti-glare cover reduces annoying reflections around the readout.
The SLIM design features a compact flush-mount housing. The compass has a maximum outer diameter of Ø119 mm, an overall height of 120.7 mm, and a height of 65 mm above the mounting surface. The required mounting depth is approx. 55.7 mm, and the main cutout must be Ø95 mm. The accompanying drill template should be used for installation.
The transparent compass bowl is made of polycarbonate with resistance to scratches, impact, and UV exposure. The compass contains Shell Sol D70 compass fluid and an elastic membrane that compensates for changes in fluid volume. The fluid is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C.
The built-in blue LED lighting is powered by 12 V and connected via two wires. The installation voltage must be checked before connection. The compass must be placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects, and the final compensation after mounting must be performed by an authorized professional.
During installation, the anti-glare cover is removed by loosening the two side screws. Only the marked Phillips screws may be used for fastening; other screws and filling plugs must not be loosened. Cleaning is performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. The compass is fully repairable, but repair work must be carried out by Riviera. The warranty period is 36 months from the manufacturing date, which is stamped on the flange.
