Riviera Zenith BZT 3″ tactical racing compass is a magnetic marine compass with a white housing, developed for tactical course reading during regatta sailing. It is intended for lightweight boats under 9 meters and is particularly suitable for sailboats where quick and clear reading of course changes is essential.
The flat, 4-color compass card has a visible diameter of 80 mm and a 5° graduation. The tactical layout provides a single course value for the various legs sailed on an Olympic regatta course. The compass features rear-facing reading and an anti-glare screen, which supports clear reading under varying light conditions.
The compass card is internally gimballed so that it can move in relation to the boat's heel. Built-in manual compensation makes it possible to correct for magnetic influences after installation. The compass should be mounted as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects, and the final compensation should be carried out professionally.
The model is mounted horizontally and flush-fit into a deck or console. The flange has an outer diameter of 139 mm, the total height is 121 mm, and the mounting depth below the mounting surface is 65 mm. The lower mounting part measures Ø89 mm, while the recommended mounting cutout is Ø95 mm. The drill template includes three fastening holes of Ø2.5 mm and a side opening for a cable of approximately 9 × 12.5 mm.
The Zenith BZT has 12 V LED lighting with blue light. The compass is liquid-filled with petroleum-based Shell Sol D/70, and an elastic membrane compensates for the liquid's volume changes to prevent bubble formation. The compass liquid is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C.
The construction is repairable, and the warranty period is 3 years from the production date under the applicable warranty terms. The manufacturer's part number for the white BZT variant with a tactical compass card is 62.00772.01.
