This Riviera Zenith BZT 3" tactical regatta compass is a magnetic marine compass with a black housing, developed for regatta and tactical sailing. The visible compass card has a diameter of 3" (80 mm), four colors, and 5° graduations, which provides a detailed heading reading.
The BZT model features reverse reading, a white lubber line, and internal gimbal suspension. The flat tactical compass card is designed in black, red, blue, and green, while an anti-glare shield reduces distracting reflections around the reading. The built-in manual compensation allows for correction of local magnetic influences after installation.
The compass is intended for horizontal flush mounting. It measures 139 mm in maximum outer diameter and 121 mm in total height. The installation depth below the mounting plane is 65 mm, and the bottom installation housing has a diameter of 89 mm. Mounting requires a cutout of Ø95 mm, three mounting holes of Ø2.5 mm, and a side cutout of 9 × 12.5 mm.
The model is intended for light boats under 9 m and can be used on both normal and high-speed boats. During installation, the compass must be placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous parts. After mounting, the compass must be professionally compensated, and the compensation screws must be operated with a non-magnetic screwdriver.
The compass liquid is of the kerosene type Shell Sol D/70 and has a documented temperature range from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic diaphragm compensates for liquid volume changes within this range. The compass is manufactured in Italy, is repairable, and is supplied with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty from the date of production under the applicable warranty terms. The compass card is balanced according to geographic zone, so the correct zone should be checked when used outside the Northern Hemisphere.
