QUICKTRIM
The innovative QuickTrim self tailer makes it easy and safe to loosen the rope tension to make minor sail trim adjustments without having to remove the winch handle or take the rope out of the self tailer. Racing sailors can adjust instantly to minor changes in wind direction or steering, providing an unbeatable advantage when frequent sail trim adjustments are required. It is also a nice convenience for touring sailors.
On the water, using QuickTrim is intuitive. With one hand on the top cover, rotate counterclockwise, this loosens the grip on the rope, allowing you to make quick adjustments. When you release the top cover, it springs back and grips the rope to resume normal use. This simple, reliable feature is a great advantage for frequent, minor trims.
As delivered from the factory, the Orbit 30QT operates as a traditional two-speed self-tailer winch. The QuickTrim feature is easily activated by simply removing a single screw located under the self-tailer cover. Step-by-step instructions are included in the included Quick Reference Guide, which is supplied with the winch, and in the product manual.
COMPLETELY WITHOUT THE USE OF TOOLS
Full disassembly and assembly can be accomplished without the use of tools. To remove the drum, pull back on the spring-loaded release latch and a slight counter-clockwise rotation will allow the self-tailing arm to be lifted from the winch. The drum can then be removed from the winch center shaft. When reassembling the winch, an audible click confirms that the self-tailing arm is in place on the center shaft.
POWER RIBS
Inspired by the distinctive drum profile of Andersen winches, Power Ribs have been incorporated into the machined drums of Ronstans Orbit Winches to deliver the same impressive rope guidance with maximum grip and minimal wear on the rope. There are many benefits to the unique grip that Power Ribs provide:
· Requires fewer windings around the drum.
· Reduces the load in the self tailer, and encourages the rope to slide easily upwards on the drum to avoid overrides.
· The non-abrasive drum surface extends the life of the rope and allows for smooth and controlled slack, even under high loads.
