This dual USB-A charging socket from Scanstrut is a panel-mount power outlet for charging up to two USB devices from a 12 or 24 V DC system. The two USB-A ports deliver 5 V DC/1 A and 5 V DC/2.1 A respectively, with a total maximum output current of 3.1 A.
The charging socket has IPX4 protection and is designed for marine installations above the waterline. The protection applies both with the lid closed and during use with one or two connected cables. UV-resistant plastic parts, corrosion-protected electronics, and a hinge and spring made of AISI 316 stainless steel support use in exposed environments.
The built-in electronics protect against short circuit, overvoltage, overcurrent, overtemperature, and reverse polarity. A red LED indicates operating status, and charging may be temporarily interrupted at high ambient temperatures or in strong direct sunlight to protect the device.
The front measures 57 × 80 mm, and the mounting depth is 55 mm. Installation requires a panel cutout of Ø29 mm and a flat, smooth, non-porous mounting surface with a thickness of 3-25 mm. There must be 91 mm of clearance for opening the lid, which provides a total extension of 135 mm in the open position.
The mounting kit includes a housing, gasket, locking ring, and mounting screw. The power must be disconnected during installation, and an appropriate fuse or circuit breaker must be installed between the power source and the charging socket. The product must be placed securely above the waterline and must not be mounted where it can be submerged. USB cables are not included.
The charging socket is CE and RoHS certified and can be used with standard USB Type-A cables for devices such as phones, tablets, and compatible navigation equipment. The product contains no user-serviceable parts.
