This Scanstrut vertical cable seal in 316 stainless steel, model DS30-S, is designed for the watertight routing of a single cable with a diameter of Ø9–14 mm through a flat mounting surface. The seal can accommodate a factory-fitted plug or connector with an outer diameter of up to Ø30 mm, eliminating the need to remove the connector during installation.
The split, tapered sealing plug is compressed around the cable, while a closed-cell 3M base gasket seals against the mounting surface. The design is IP68-rated and manufactured from marine-grade 316 stainless steel with corrosion-resistant fasteners and UV-stable materials. The cable seal must be mounted above the waterline.
The rounded, domed profile has no prominent sharp edges, reducing the risk of snagging lines. The shape also increases impact resistance and serves as extra protection against water. The product has a maximum outer diameter of Ø59 mm, a base diameter of Ø56 mm, and a height of 20.5 mm above the mounting surface.
Installation requires a central hole of Ø30 mm. For attachment with the included No. 6 screws, use Ø2.5 mm pilot holes in soft materials like plywood or Ø3 mm pilot holes in hard materials like fiberglass, acrylic, and hardwood. Captive nuts in the base facilitate assembly and allow for the seal to be removed and reinstalled multiple times.
The package includes sealing plugs with Ø9 mm, Ø11 mm, and Ø13 mm holes, as well as an undrilled plug for individual customization. The undrilled plug can advantageously be frozen before drilling, and the hole should be made approximately 1–2 mm larger than the cable diameter. No sealant is required on the cable plug itself; use silicone at the attachment points during installation.
The delivery includes the outer cover, base, gasket, four M4 × 10 bolts, four No. 6 × 16 self-tapping screws, and four DS30 sealing plugs. Electrical installation must be performed with the power switched off, and the seal is not approved for hazardous or flammable environments. The product is supplied individually in a display blister and comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
