This Scanstrut waterproof deck seal is model DS6-P for the vertical routing of a single cable with an outside diameter of 2–6 mm. This compact cable seal is used to route cables from antennas, navigation lights, solar panels, lighting, and other electronics through decks, roofs, or similar mounting surfaces.
The round, dome-shaped cap is made of impact-resistant plastic with a grey satin finish. Its rounded profile has no sharp edges, reducing the risk of lines, feet, or other equipment catching on it. The design also provides additional mechanical protection for the cable passage. The material is UV-resistant and designed for long-term outdoor use.
The seal is formed by a tapered cable insert and a closed-cell base gasket against the mounting surface. Six cable inserts are included: one blank insert and pre-formed inserts for Ø 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm. The split-seal design allows the cable seal to be installed around a cable without removing the cable connector, provided the connector can pass through the available Ø 6 mm passage.
The cap has a maximum outside diameter of Ø 30 mm, while the base and gasket measure Ø 27 mm. Installation requires a Ø 6 mm cable hole. The base is secured with three included No. 4 × 16 self-tapping screws, and the cap is assembled using three M3 × 10 bolts. Captive threaded points facilitate assembly and allow for repeated disassembly and reassembly.
When pre-drilling, Ø 2 mm is recommended for soft materials such as plywood, and Ø 2.5 mm for hard materials such as fiberglass, acrylic, and hardwood. Choose the cable insert that is closest to the actual diameter of the cable. The blank insert can be customized by freezing it before drilling and drilling a hole approximately 1–2 mm larger than the cable, allowing the material to tighten around the cable after thawing.
The cable seal must be mounted above the waterline and is not intended for installation below the waterline. Delivery includes the dome-shaped cap, base, base gasket, six cable inserts, three M3 × 10 bolts, and three No. 4 × 16 self-tapping screws. The product comes with a three-year warranty.
