This model is a Scanstrut vertical cable seal in 316 stainless steel for the watertight routing of a single cable with a diameter of 9–14 mm through decks and other exposed mounting surfaces. The DS21B-S can accommodate a pre-fitted connector with a diameter of up to 21 mm, eliminating the need to remove the terminal connector from the cable during installation.
The dome-shaped cover and fixing components are manufactured from marine-grade 316 stainless steel. The rounded profile acts as an additional water shield, increases impact resistance, and reduces the risk of lines or other objects getting snagged. UV-stable materials and a watertight 3M base gasket make the construction suitable for outdoor marine use.
The tapered sealing plug and closed-cell base seal form an IP68-rated connection. Four split seals are included: three pre-drilled seals of Ø 9, Ø 11, and Ø 13 mm, respectively, and one drillable seal. The seals can be fitted around an existing cable, and no sealant is required directly on the rubber seal.
The seal has an external diameter of 49 mm, a mounting footprint of Ø 45.7 mm, and a height of 20.5 mm above the mounting surface. Installation requires a central hole of Ø 21 mm and is performed using a three-point fixing system. Captive nuts in the base facilitate assembly and allow for repeated disassembly and reinstallation.
The kit includes the dome cover, base, base gasket, four sealing plugs, three M4 × 10 mm bolts, and three self-tapping No. 6 × 16 mm mounting screws. Installation requires a Ø 21 mm hole saw, a Pozidriv screwdriver, and bits for pilot holes. The recommended pilot hole is Ø 2.5 mm in soft materials such as plywood and Ø 3 mm in hard materials such as fiberglass, acrylic, and hardwood. Sealant should be applied to the mounting screw holes.
When customizing the drillable seal, it can be frozen before drilling. The hole should be drilled approximately 1–2 mm larger than the cable diameter. The cable seal is designed for vertical surface mounting above the waterline and must not be installed below the waterline. The manufacturer's warranty is 3 years.
