Scanstrut vertical cable seal in grey plastic is a pack of 10 waterproof seals for the vertical routing of one cable through a deck, roof, or similar mounting surface. This DS21B-P variant is designed for cables with an outside diameter of 9–14 mm and allows the passage of a pre-attached connector with a diameter of up to 21 mm.
The split seal insert allows the seal to be installed around an existing cable without first removing the end connector. The tapered insert compresses within the housing to form a watertight seal around the cable, while the base gasket seals between the unit and the mounting surface. The design is IPX7 rated.
The housing is made of high-impact, UV-stable grey plastic and features a low-profile, rounded dome shape with no sharp edges. The design protects the cable entry from water ingress and reduces the risk of lines, feet, or other equipment catching on or damaging the seal. The fasteners are made of AISI 316 stainless steel, and the base is fitted with a waterproof 3M gasket.
The seal has an outer diameter of 49 mm, a mounting base diameter of 45.7 mm, and a mounted height of 20.5 mm. Installation requires a Ø 21 mm mounting hole. It uses three No. 6 × 16 self-tapping screws and 3 M4 × 10 bolts. Captive nuts and threaded connections allow the seal to be removed and reinstalled repeatedly.
Each seal comes with pre-drilled inserts for Ø 9 mm, Ø 11 mm, and Ø 13 mm cables, as well as an undrilled insert that can be customized for other cable diameters within the range. The undrilled insert can be frozen before drilling; the hole should be drilled approximately 1–2 mm larger than the cable diameter, allowing the insert to seal tightly around the cable after thawing. No sealant should be applied directly to the rubber insert, although silicone may be used around the fastening points.
The seal can be used for antenna, navigation light, and electronics cables, among others. It is intended for installation above the waterline and must not be mounted below the waterline. The product comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. A corresponding grey single-pack variant is available under item no. 14.172.09.
