This Scanstrut Low Profile cable seal, model DS-LP-16-BLK, is designed for the watertight routing of a single cable with an outside diameter of 2-8 mm through a deck, roof, or other mounting surface. The black cable seal is manufactured from marine-grade anodized aluminum and has an IP68 ingress protection rating.
The split, tapered sealing insert allows for cable routing without having to remove the existing connector first. The design accepts plugs and connectors with an outside diameter of up to 16 mm. A closed-cell base seal provides a watertight fit against the mounting surface, and captive nuts allow the seal to be removed and reinstalled multiple times.
The Low Profile design places the sealing technology under the mounting surface, resulting in a visible profile height of only 5 mm. This is 73% lower than the standard DS16-P-BLK model. The outside diameter is 49.9 mm, and the seal can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.
Installation requires a central cutout of Ø 25 mm and has three fixing points. The cable seal can be mounted in materials including plywood, fiberglass, hardwood, acrylic, steel, and aluminum. Marine sealant is not required around the cable seal itself; however, the installation instructions specify the local use of silicone at the mounting screws.
The package includes pre-drilled sealing inserts for cables of Ø 2, 4, and 7 mm, as well as an undrilled insert that can be customized to the required cable diameter. The package also contains a top, base, base seal, three No. 4 × 19 mm screws, and three M3 × 5 mm countersunk bolts. The construction is UV and corrosion-resistant and suitable for marine installations as well as other outdoor applications, including cables for solar panels, light bars, lamps, and deck-mounted electronics.
