This Scanstrut Low Profile cable seal model DS-LP-16-S is a watertight cable gland in polished 316 stainless steel for routing a single round cable with a diameter of 2–8 mm. It is designed for deck and panel mounting and can be used for, among other things, solar panel cables, lighting, radar, and other deck- or roof-mounted electrical equipment.
The split, tapered sealing insert allows a cable with a pre-fitted connector to be routed through the mounting surface without removing the connector. The maximum diameter of the plug or connector must be up to 16 mm. The design features captive nuts and threaded parts that support repeated disassembly and reassembly.
The cable seal is IP68-rated and UV-resistant. The sealing technology is placed under the mounting surface, resulting in a visible profile height of only 5 mm. The external dimension is Ø 49.9 mm, and the installation requires a central mounting hole of Ø 25 mm as well as three fixing points. It can be mounted on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Four sealing inserts are included: one with a Ø 2 mm hole, one with a Ø 4 mm hole, one with a Ø 7 mm hole, and one blank, drillable insert. The blank insert can be customized for cables between Ø 2–8 mm. The package also contains the top part, bottom part, closed-cell base gasket, three No. 4 × 19 mm screws, and three M3 × 5 mm countersunk bolts.
The base gasket ensures a seal against the mounting surface, so no bedding or marine sealant is required under the cable seal itself. During installation, however, the mounting instructions specify the use of silicone at the three fixing holes. The product comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
