This Scanstrut Low Profile waterproof cable seal, model DS-LP-MULTI-S, is designed to route multiple electrical cables through decks, roofs, bulkheads, or any other suitable mounting surface. It can be used for cables with an individual diameter of up to Ø15 mm and is suitable for marine electronics, solar panels, lighting, and other deck- or roof-mounted equipment, among other applications.
The cable seal is manufactured from marine-grade 316 stainless steel with a silver finish. The design is IP68-rated, UV-resistant, and engineered for a 100% waterproof installation. A closed-cell base gasket and a tapered, drillable sealing plug ensure a seal without the need for a traditional bed of marine sealant.
The low-profile design places a significant part of the seal below the mounting surface and reduces the overall mounting height by 71% compared to a standard profile. The visible height is 6.5 mm, while the construction extends 8.8 mm below the mounting surface. The external dimensions are 114 × 62.5 mm, and the seal can be mounted both vertically and horizontally.
The included blank sealing plug is drilled according to the specific cable configuration. The drill diameter must be the cable diameter plus 1.5 mm, and at least 4 mm of material must be maintained between the cable holes, as well as 1.5 mm of material from a cable hole to the edge of the plug. The seal can accommodate up to five cables depending on the cable diameters and hole placement; this does not mean that five cables of Ø15 mm each can be installed. Plugs and connectors must have a diameter of less than Ø18.5 mm.
The mounting cutout is made with two Ø35 mm holes with a center distance of 51.5 mm, after which the material between the holes is removed. The fastening method is adapted to the mounting material: Ø2.5 mm pilot holes for soft materials, Ø3 mm for materials such as fiberglass, hardwood, and acrylic, and Ø4 mm holes and M4 fasteners for mounting in metal. Captured threaded parts facilitate repeated disassembly and reassembly.
The delivery includes a top section, base section, drillable sealing plug, gasket, four No. 6 × 19 mm screws, and four M4 × 6 mm countersunk bolts. The product comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
