Scanstrut Low Profile cable seal is an IP68-rated multi-cable solution for waterproof routing of up to four cables through decks, roofs, or other mounting surfaces. This variant is made of black anodized aluminum and can be customized for cables with a diameter of up to Ø15 mm per cable.
The low-profile design places the sealing mechanism below the mounting surface, providing a visible height of only 6.5 mm. It is 71% lower than the corresponding standard model. The construction is corrosion-resistant, UV-resistant, and impact-resistant, making it suitable for marine and other outdoor installations.
The included non-drilled sealing insert is drilled individually according to the cable configuration. Each hole must be drilled 1.5 mm larger than the actual cable, with at least 1.5 mm from the cable hole to the edge of the insert and at least 4 mm of material between the holes. The insert can advantageously be frozen to approximately −18 °C before drilling. Connectors and factory-fitted cable ends with a diameter of up to Ø18.5 mm can be passed through the opening without first being dismantled.
The cable seal measures 114 × 62.5 mm and has a depth of 8.8 mm below the mounting surface. Installation requires two Ø35 mm holes with a center distance of 51.5 mm, after which the material between the holes is removed to form an elongated oval cutout. It can be mounted both vertically and horizontally.
A tapered sealing insert and a closed-cell base gasket create a 100% waterproof cable passage when properly installed. No marine sealant is required around the cable seal itself, but screw holes can be sealed as directed in the installation instructions. For plywood and other soft materials, a Ø2.5 mm pilot hole is used, while fiberglass, hardwood, and acrylic require Ø3 mm. When mounting in metal, Ø4 mm holes are drilled for M4 fasteners.
The kit includes a top part, base part, self-drilling sealing insert, base gasket, four No. 6 × 19 mm mounting screws, and four M4 × 6 mm countersunk assembly bolts. The cable seal is suitable for marine electronics, solar panels, light bars, and roof- and deck-mounted electronics on boats, motorhomes, and vans. The product comes with a 3-year warranty.
