Scanstrut horizontal cable seal DS-HD10-BLK is a waterproof cable seal with two separate, horizontal cable entries. It is designed to route two cables with an outer diameter of 6–10 mm each through a roof, deck, or similar mounting surface.
The horizontal cable routing and the low-profile design make the seal suitable for, among other things, solar panel cables and cables for roof-mounted electronics. The housing is made of glass-filled nylon and features a UV-stable, impact-resistant construction for marine installations. The fasteners are made of 316 stainless steel.
The product measures 75.1 mm in length, 66.5 mm in width, and 28.5 mm in height. Installation requires a central through-hole of Ø 32 mm. The seal can be mounted in materials including plywood, fiberglass/GRP, hardwood, acrylic, steel, and aluminum.
Included are separate sealing inserts for cables of 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 mm, as well as blank inserts that can be drilled as needed. Each cable is sealed individually, allowing the insert to be selected according to the cable's actual outer diameter. Integrated, captive nuts facilitate assembly and re-installation.
The included waterproof 3M gasket seals between the unit and the mounting surface, and the ingress protection rating is IP68. No marine sealant is required at the cable inserts or the main gasket. For the screw holes, the installation manual's instructions regarding silicone must be followed.
The delivery includes the top section, base, gasket, one black M5 × 10 bolt, four No. 6 × 16 self-tapping screws, and the various sealing inserts. When mounting in soft materials, a 2.5 mm pilot hole is recommended, while hard materials such as fiberglass, hardwood, and acrylic require a 3 mm pilot hole. For metal, countersunk M3 bolts over 12 mm with washers and Nyloc nuts are recommended; these parts are not included. The product comes with a 3-year warranty.
