Scanstrut horizontal cable seal DS-H6 routes one round cable with an outer diameter of 2–6 mm horizontally through a deck, roof, or other mounting surface. The cable is routed parallel to the surface and bent down through the base, providing a low-profile installation for items such as solar panel cables, light bars, lamps, and other surface-mounted electronic equipment.
The cable seal is manufactured from grey, glass-filled nylon. The UV-stable and hard-wearing construction is designed for marine and outdoor installations, while the low, domed profile protects the cable entry against impact and water. The ingress protection rating is IPX7.
The product measures 28.5 mm in width, 46 mm in length, and 20 mm in height above the mounting surface. The technical geometry shows a bend radius of 12 mm when using a 6 mm cable. Captive nuts in the base make installation easier and facilitate subsequent removal and reinstallation.
Six cable bushings are included: one undrilled bushing and pre-drilled bushings of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm. Choose the bushing with a hole diameter closest to the actual diameter of your cable. The cable seal around the bushing does not require additional sealant. For fastening, the installation instructions show silicone around the screws, and the applicable installation guide should therefore be followed.
The installation kit includes the outer shell, base, base gasket, one M4 × 12 bolt, and three No. 4 × 16 self-tapping screws. The cable hole through the mounting surface must be Ø 10 mm. The recommended pilot hole for the screws is Ø 2 mm in soft materials such as plywood and Ø 2.5 mm in hard materials such as fiberglass, acrylic, and hardwood. Installation is performed using a 3 mm Allen key and a Pozidriv screwdriver. The product comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
