This Scanstrut horizontal cable seal in black is a waterproof multi-cable version for horizontally routing multiple cables through decks, roofs, or panels. The DS-H-MULTI model is suitable for marine electronics, solar panels, and lighting, among other applications where cables need to be routed from the outside to the inside through a protected opening.
The cable seal is made of glass-reinforced nylon with an impact-resistant, UV-stable, and corrosion-free construction for demanding maritime environments. The low-profile design measures 97.6 × 114.8 × 35.8 mm, while the front cable area is 70 mm wide and has an opening height of 18.3 mm. The construction is IPX7 rated.
The drillable cable bung is customized to the cables being routed and supports multiple cables with a maximum cable diameter of Ø15 mm. The cable holes are drilled with a diameter equal to the cable diameter plus 1.5 mm. The minimum hole diameter is 4 mm, and there must be at least 6.3 mm between the drilled cable holes. It is recommended to freeze the bung to approximately −18 °C before drilling and place it on a suitable surface during the work.
The product is surface-mounted on a deck, roof, or panel. The main cutout is made with two overlapping Ø44 mm drill holes with 33 mm between the center lines and finished with a jigsaw. Installation begins with six pilot holes according to the mounting template. The recommended pilot drill bit is Ø2.5 mm for soft materials like plywood, Ø3 mm for fiberglass, hardwood, and acrylic, and Ø4 mm for steel and aluminum.
A front section, base, cover, cable bung, gasket, four No. 6 × 19 self-tapping screws, and three M5 × 12 pan-head Pozi screws are included. When mounting in metal, M4 countersunk bolts over 12 mm as well as washers and Nyloc nuts are recommended; these parts are not included. Captive nuts facilitate assembly, readjustment, and subsequent disassembly. Sealant should not be applied to the cable bung itself.
The cable seal can also be used for similar roof installations on motorhomes and other recreational vehicles. A 3-year warranty is provided. The manufacturer's part number is DS-H-MULTI-BLK.
