This Scanstrut Ventura external XT60 solar panel connector, model SC-V-S3, is a panel-mount DC connection for solar and power supply systems. It is designed for external installation on boats, motorhomes, vans, and off-road/overland vehicles and features a compact, low-profile design with an integrated gasket.
The connector features a built-in waterproof Amass XT60EW-M male plug and supports up to 500V DC, 30A continuous and 60A peak current. The maximum power transfer is 360W at 12V, 720W at 24V, and 1440W at 48V. The fixed 150 mm cable is made of tinned copper with a cross-section of 4 mm²/12 AWG. The red conductor is positive (+), and the black conductor is negative (−).
The front is IP68 and IP69K rated when the lid is fully closed. When used with a waterproof XT60W-F female connector, IP65 protection is achieved. A standard XT60-F female connector is also electrically compatible but without documented IP65 protection during use. Device cables assembled with original Amass XT60 connectors must be used.
The housing is made of UV-resistant matte black nylon PA, while screws and mounting components are made of AISI 316 stainless steel. The spring-loaded click-to-close lid opens 180° and has a hold-open position at approximately 90°. The front measures 60.3 × 68.0 mm and protrudes 16 mm from the mounting surface. The rear component depth is 14 mm.
Mounting is performed with the integrated gasket on a flat, smooth, and non-porous surface. Installation requires 2 × Ø25.4 mm cutouts and four mounting holes spaced 44 × 40 mm apart. A clearance of 122 mm is required to fully open the lid. Four No. 6 PH2 panhead mounting screws are included. For through-mounting, M4 bolts, washers, and Nyloc nuts can be used; these are not included.
Installation must be performed with correct polarity and a fuse and switch sized for the specific system. The solar charge controller and battery system must be disconnected during work. The product must not be installed in engine compartments, flammable atmospheres, or areas at risk of full or partial submersion. The lid must be kept closed during navigation and driving. The product is CE and RoHS certified, complies with EN 61984:2009 in conjunction with IEC 61984:2008, and comes with a three-year non-transferable manufacturer's warranty.
