Scanstrut vertical cable seal in 316 stainless steel is a waterproof DS40-S cable seal for a single cable with a diameter of Ø 12–15 mm. The central opening allows for the passage of a pre-fitted plug or connector with a diameter of up to Ø 40 mm. The seal is designed for surface mounting above the waterline.
The split, tapered sealing insert allows the cable to be installed without first removing the end connector. This is particularly practical for cables for antennas, navigation lights, and marine electronics, where the connector is already fitted. The sealing insert has a closed base and does not require sealant.
The outer shell and fasteners are made of marine-grade 316 stainless steel. The low, dome-shaped profile is free of sharp edges, which reduces the risk of lines snagging. The dome shape also increases impact resistance and acts as an extra shield against water. The materials are UV-stable and designed for outdoor and maritime use.
The seal has a maximum outer diameter of Ø 69 mm, a base diameter of Ø 66 mm, and a height of 21.7 mm above the mounting surface. The ingress protection rating is IP68. Captive nuts in the base facilitate installation and allow the seal to be removed and reinstalled repeatedly.
Installation requires a clearance hole of Ø 40 mm. For the screws, a 2.5 mm pilot hole is recommended in soft materials such as plywood, and 3.0 mm in hard materials such as fiberglass, acrylic, and hardwood. The included 3M gasket seals against the mounting surface, and the installation instructions also show the use of silicone at the base. When customizing the blank insert, it can be frozen before drilling; the hole should be drilled approximately 1.5 mm larger than the cable.
The delivery includes a pre-drilled sealing insert for Ø 12 mm, a blank machinable sealing insert, a waterproof 3M gasket, and 316 stainless steel fasteners. The product comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
