This Scanstrut vertical cable seal in grey plastic is the DS16-P model for the watertight passage of one cable through a deck, roof, or similar horizontal mounting surface. It is suitable for cables with a diameter of Ø2–8 mm and terminal plugs or connectors with an external diameter of up to Ø16 mm.
The split seal insert allows a cable with a pre-fitted plug to be routed through the mounting surface without first having to remove the plug. Both pre-drilled and blank seal inserts are included, allowing the seal to be adapted to the specific cable diameter.
The dome-shaped cover is made of impact-resistant, UV-stable plastic and has a rounded profile without sharp edges. The design protects the cable passage against water while reducing the risk of ropes or lines snagging. The fasteners are made of 316 stainless steel, and the base features a watertight 3M gasket.
The seal has a maximum outer cover diameter of 39 mm, a base diameter of 36.5 mm, and an installed height of 19 mm. Installation requires a Ø16 mm hole through the substrate and is carried out using three screws. Ø2.0 mm pilot holes are recommended in soft materials, and Ø2.5 mm pilot holes in hard materials.
The product is intended for vertical installation above the waterline and must not be mounted below the waterline. Captive nuts in the base make it easier to disassemble and reassemble the seal repeatedly. Sealant should not be applied directly to the seal insert. The delivery includes the dome cover, base, base gasket, mounting screws, and a selection of pre-drilled and blank seal inserts. The product has a 3-year warranty.
