This Scanstrut vertical cable seal in black plastic is model DS16-P-BLK for watertight routing of a single cable with a diameter of 2–8 mm through decks, roofs, or another flat mounting surface above the waterline. It is suitable for cables for items such as antennas, navigation lights, GPS, solar panels, lighting, and other outdoor marine electronics.
The split-seal solution allows for the installation of an already terminated cable without removing the plug. A pre-fitted plug or connector with a diameter of up to 16 mm can be passed through the mounting hole. The cable seal is IPX7-rated and features a watertight 3M closed-cell base gasket.
The housing is made of impact-resistant, UV-stable, and hard-wearing marine-grade plastic. The rounded dome profile, with no sharp edges, protects the cable passage and reduces the risk of lines catching. Fasteners are made of 316 stainless steel, and captive nuts in the base allow for repeated opening and reassembly.
The product has a maximum outer diameter of 39 mm, a base diameter of 36.5 mm, and a height of 19 mm above the mounting surface. Installation requires a clearance hole of Ø 16 mm. For pilot holes, Ø 2 mm is recommended in soft materials such as plywood, and Ø 2.5 mm in hard materials such as acrylic or hardwood.
Pre-drilled seals for cables of Ø 3 mm, Ø 4 mm, and Ø 7 mm are included, as well as a blank seal for custom drilling. The blank seal can be frozen before drilling; the hole is drilled approximately 1–2 mm larger than the cable diameter, after which the material shrinks tightly around the cable upon thawing. The kit also includes a housing, base, base gasket, three No. 4 × 16 self-tapping screws, and three M3 × 10 bolts. The product is supplied individually in a blister pack and has a 3-year warranty.
