This Scanstrut vertical cable seal in black plastic is model DS21A-P-BLK for watertight routing of one cable with a diameter of 4–9 mm through a deck or panel. It can accommodate a factory-fitted plug or connector with a diameter of up to 21 mm, without the need to remove the end connector first.
The round, dome-shaped design is manufactured from UV-stable and impact-resistant plastic. The shape has no sharp edges, which increases resistance to impact and reduces the risk of lines getting snagged. The outer dome also provides additional protection against water ingress.
The watertight seal is formed by a tapered cable seal and a closed-cell base gasket. Pre-drilled inserts for Ø4, Ø5, and Ø7 mm cables are included, as well as a blank insert that can be drilled individually. The split inserts allow the seal to be fitted around an existing cable.
The cable seal has an external diameter of 49 mm, a base diameter of 45.7 mm, and a height of 20.5 mm above the mounting surface. Installation requires a central hole of Ø21 mm. The base is fastened with three included No. 6 × 16 self-tapping screws, while the black cover is assembled with three black M4 × 10 bolts.
Threaded nuts and captive nuts in the base allow the seal to be opened and reassembled multiple times. It must be mounted above the waterline and is not intended for installation below the waterline. When mounting, use silicone around the mounting area of the base; no sealant is required directly on the cable insert.
If the blank insert is used, it can be frozen before drilling. The drill hole should be approximately 1–2 mm larger than the cable diameter so that the insert shrinks tightly around the cable after thawing. The design is suitable for cables for items such as antennas, navigation lights, GPS, solar panels, and other outdoor electronics.
