Vertical cable seal in black plastic from Scanstrut is designed for watertight routing of one cable through decks or bulkheads. The DS21B-P-BLK model fits cables with an outer diameter of 9–14 mm and can be installed around a cable with an existing connector of up to Ø 21 mm.
The split-seal solution allows the cable to be routed through without first removing terminal plugs or connectors. The seal has an IP68 ingress protection rating and must be installed above the waterline. The external dome provides extra protection against water ingress, while the watertight 3M base gasket seals against the mounting surface.
The housing is manufactured from black, UV-stable and impact-resistant plastic. The rounded, dome-shaped profile has no sharp edges, which reduces the risk of lines or other equipment snagging. The fasteners are made of 316 stainless steel, and captive nuts in the base allow the seal to be removed and reinstalled repeatedly.
The seal measures Ø 49 mm and has a height of 20.5 mm above the mounting surface. The diameter at the base is 45.7 mm, and installation requires a through-hole of Ø 21 mm. For installation, pilot holes of Ø 2.5 mm are recommended in soft materials such as plywood, and Ø 3 mm in hard materials such as fiberglass, acrylic, and hardwood.
Included are sealing bushings with pre-drilled holes of Ø 9, Ø 11, and Ø 13 mm, as well as a blank bushing that can be drilled to the desired cable diameter. The tapered bushing should be selected as close to the cable diameter as possible, and sealant should not be applied directly to the bushing itself.
The package contains an outer shell, base, base gasket, three No. 6 × 16 mm self-tapping screws, three M4 × 10 mm black bolts, and four DS21B sealing bushings. The product comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
