Scanstrut vertical cable seal in black plastic is a watertight cable seal for routing a single round cable through a deck, superstructure, bulkhead, or similar flat mounting surface above the waterline. This DS30-P-BLK variant fits cables with an outer diameter of 9-14 mm and allows the passage of an existing connector with a diameter of up to 30 mm.
The split, tapered sealing insert can be placed around an already terminated cable, so factory-fitted connectors do not need to be removed or cut off. When the housing is assembled, the insert is compressed around the cable, while a waterproof 3M closed-cell base gasket seals between the base and the mounting surface. The design is IPX7 rated.
The housing is made of impact-resistant, UV-stable marine-grade plastic. The dome-shaped profile protects the cable entry and is designed without sharp edges, which reduces the risk of lines snagging. The fasteners are made of 316 stainless steel, and captive nuts in the base allow the seal to be disassembled and reassembled repeatedly.
The cable seal has an outer diameter of 59 mm, a diameter of 56 mm across the underside of the base, and a height of 20.5 mm above the mounting surface. Installation requires a central mounting hole of Ø 30 mm. Ø 2.5 mm pilot holes are recommended for soft materials such as plywood, and Ø 3 mm pilot holes for hard materials such as fiberglass, acrylic, and hardwood.
Four sealing inserts are included: one with a Ø 9 mm hole, one with a Ø 11 mm hole, one with a Ø 13 mm hole, and one solid insert that can be customized for other cable diameters within the specified range. When machining the solid insert, it can be frozen before drilling; the hole should be made approximately 1-2 mm larger than the cable diameter so that the material seals tightly around the cable after thawing.
The delivery includes the outer housing, base, base gasket, four sealing inserts, four black M4 × 10 bolts, and four No. 6 × 16 self-tapping mounting screws. The seal is suitable for antenna, GPS, navigation light, solar panel, and power cables, among others. The warranty period is 3 years.
