This Windex-ready VHF masthead antenna from Scout is the KM-4 model, designed for mounting on the masthead of a sailboat. The antenna is 1.0 m long and combines marine VHF communication with the option to mount a Windex 15 wind indicator at the same point.
The KM-4 covers the frequency range 156–162 MHz and features 3 dB gain, 50 Ω impedance, and a maximum input power of 50 W. The electrical length is 1/2 λ, the polarization is vertical, and the V.S.W.R. is less than 1.5:1. The antenna is DC-grounded and terminates in an N-female connector for connection with a cable having a matching N-male connector on the antenna side.
The rigid antenna whip is made of fiberglass with a wall thickness of 1.4 mm. The construction is fully foam-filled and waterproof, while the ice-white high-gloss finish features a UV filter that limits color degradation. The antenna top has a chrome-plated brass coupling designed for mounting the Windex 15.
The antenna is supplied with a 3 mm thick mounting bracket and a hex key for securing the wind indicator. The Windex 15 with item no. 35.388.02 is compatible but is not included. The combined mounting frees up space at the masthead because the VHF antenna and the wind indicator are positioned in the same place.
The product weight is 0.30 kg, and the manufacturer part number is PF AN NVHF00029. The model comes with a 5-year warranty.
