This self-priming macerator pump for waste holding tanks is a 12 V DC pump for emptying marine holding tanks for sewage and blackwater. The macerator grinds up toilet waste and toilet paper into small particles so the contents can be pumped out through the discharge hose where discharge is permitted.
The pump delivers up to 43 l/min at free flow and 23 l/min at a 3 m head. The proven self-priming height is 0.6 m. The power consumption is 12 A at 12 V, and the DC motor is designed for intermittent duty with a maximum of 15 minutes of continuous running.
The inlet is designed for a 38 mm hose, corresponding to a 1½" internal hose diameter, while the outlet is 25 mm and requires at least a 1" internal hose diameter. The suction hose must be non-collapsible, and all connections must be airtight, secured with suitable hose clamps, and installed without sharp bends or restrictions. The pump dimensions are 240 × 130 × 90 mm.
The pump should be mounted as close to the holding tank as practically possible. If the drain's hull fitting is located below the waterline, the installation must be carried out with a vented swan neck or anti-siphon loop. The electrical connection must be run on an independent circuit with the red wire to positive and the black wire to negative. A momentary switch is recommended so the pump can be stopped immediately when the change in sound indicates that the tank is empty.
Dry running must not exceed 30 seconds, as prolonged dry running can damage the impeller and the pump. The pump and tank should be flushed with plenty of water after each emptying. The pump must not be used for hard objects, sanitary pads, or rags. During long periods of inactivity, the flexible impeller may seize and require disassembly and cleaning.
The pump is CE certified and meets EN ISO 8846/ISO 8846. It is also covered by RINA type approval certificate DIP006617Y1/004. Spare impeller 16.193.73 is documented for this pump.
