This self-priming macerator pump for black water is a 12 V electric pump for emptying black water and sewage tanks on boats. The pump macerates standard toilet waste and toilet paper before pumping it out and has a nominal capacity of 45 l/min.
The pump uses a flexible impeller and a double cutting blade made of 316 stainless steel. The impeller is made of NBR 70, and the motor is thermally protected. The capacity is 23 l/min at a 3 m head. The maximum self-priming height is 100 cm with a dry pump and 125 cm when the internal parts of the pump are wetted.
The inlet is 38 mm, while the outlet is 25 mm. The pump can be connected to a 1½″ female flange by cutting the hose barb immediately before the thread. On the suction side, a vacuum-rated, non-collapsible sanitation hose must be used, and sanitary connections should be secured with stainless steel hose clamps.
The pump measures 284 × 121 × 100 mm and should be mounted as close to the tank as possible. A shut-off valve must be installed between the tank and the pump, and the inlet hose must be routed without kinks or sharp bends. Air leaks on the suction side can lead to dry running and damage the impeller and impeller housing.
The electrical installation must be performed on a separate circuit with correctly sized cables, a fuse, and a momentary switch. The pump is intended for intermittent operation and must not be used continuously. When the tank is empty, the pump sound changes, and the pump must be switched off immediately. Dry running must not exceed 15-20 seconds.
The tank and pump should be flushed with water after use. After long periods of inactivity, the impeller may seize; the motor shaft can be released via the rear shaft cover. Rags, sanitary pads, and large or hard foreign objects must not be put through the pump. Pumping out from marine sanitary systems may only take place where current regulations allow it.
