This silicone grommet for waterproof plastic connectors is used as an elastic cable seal in a modular connector system. The grommet fits tightly around the cable and contributes to the watertight sealing of the assembled cable connector.
The grommet is made of silicone and is intended for cables or conductors with a cross-section of 0.5–1.5 mm². Its orange, ribbed design makes it suitable as a seal at the cable entry of the corresponding plastic connectors.
The connector system includes 1-, 2-, and 3-pole male and female connector housings as well as separate brass contacts. Related system components include female connector housings 14.235.10, 14.235.30, and 14.235.50, male connector housings 14.235.20, 14.235.40, and 14.235.60, as well as male and female contacts 14.236.45 and 14.236.46.
In the documented assembly of a complete 2-pole connector, four silicone grommets are used together with a 2-pole female connector housing, a 2-pole male connector housing, and the corresponding brass contacts. The waterproof plastic connectors in the system are designed in accordance with ISO 15083; this is not an independent certification of the silicone grommet.
