This Solas New Saturn RUBEX 3-blade stainless steel propeller has a 13 1/2″ diameter, a 15″ pitch, and right-hand rotation. The propeller is designed for outboards and stern drives with a 4 1/4″ gearcase and through-hub exhaust when combined with the correct RUBEX/RBX hub kit.
The RUBEX system uses an interchangeable rubber hub, allowing the propeller to be adapted to different engine makes using a separate, engine-specific hub kit. The hub and dampener kit is not included and must be selected based on engine model, year, gearcase, and propeller shaft. The spline count is determined by the selected hub kit and the engine's propeller shaft and is therefore not a fixed characteristic of the propeller itself.
The 3-blade propeller is manufactured from stainless steel using investment casting. The material's content of, among other things, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum contributes to resistance against rust in saltwater. The RUBEX NS3 series is developed for versatile performance and acceleration and features a large blade area in a so-called ear design.
Compatibility and hub kits
Documented applications include select engines from Yamaha and Selva, Honda, Tohatsu and Nissan, Mercury and Mariner, Suzuki, as well as Evinrude, Johnson, and BRP. Relevant hub kits include 52.537.00 / RBX-208 for select Yamaha applications, 52.537.01 / RBX-203 for relevant Yamaha 115 hp applications, 52.537.02 / RBX-107 for Honda, 52.537.03 / RBX-102 for Mercury and Mariner, 52.537.07 / RBX-110 for Suzuki, 52.537.08 / RBX-106 for Evinrude and Johnson, and 52.537.09 / RBX-109 for Tohatsu and Nissan.
Engine ranges depend on the selected hub kit. Documented applications include, among others, Yamaha and equivalent Selva 70–140 hp 2-stroke and 70–115 hp 4-stroke, Honda 75, 90, and 130 hp, as well as 115 hp up to and including model year 2010, Mercury/Mariner 75–125 hp, Suzuki 70–140 hp 2-stroke and 60/70 hp 4-stroke, as well as select Evinrude/Johnson and E-TEC engines. For Yamaha 115 hp, the correct hub kit must be verified according to the specific engine model, year, and gearcase type.
Installation
During installation, the engine must be in neutral, the ignition must be turned off, and the propeller shaft must be lubricated. Use the engine's original locking and fastening parts according to the engine manufacturer's instructions, unless the relevant parts are included with the hub kit. The propeller nut must be tightened according to the engine or drive manual, as there is no universal tightening torque.
Always check the engine/drive model, year, gearcase, propeller shaft, and correct hub kit before purchasing.
