Solas Rubex HR4 4-blade stainless steel propeller with a 14″ diameter, 21″ pitch, and right-hand rotation. The propeller has manufacturer number 9553-140-21 and is designed for larger gearcases with through-hub exhaust.
The Rubex HR4 series combines four blades with high rake and cupped blade tips. The construction is designed for good acceleration, stern lift, and strong, smooth thrust. The blade design also supports speed and fuel efficiency in the engine's mid-range.
The propeller uses an interchangeable Rubex RBX rubber hub system. The correct RBX hub is selected based on engine brand, engine model, year, gearcase, and propeller shaft, and must be ordered separately. The system is compatible with Flo-Torq and Vortex hub systems. The drive/propeller shaft must be lubricated before installation, and the engine installation manual must be followed.
Compatibility and hub selection
For Yamaha, documented compatibility includes, among others, 150–175 hp from 1978–1983 with RBX-102 or RBX-102B, 150–225 hp from 1984 and newer with RBX-203 or RBX-203B, as well as 250 hp from 1984 and newer with RBX-203B. Yamaha 300 hp 4-stroke V6 from 2004–2007 and 2010 and newer uses RBX-203B, while VMAX SHO V6 200–250 hp uses RBX-203X. Yamaha sterndrives from 1989–1993 are documented with RBX-203B.
For the Yamaha configuration with RBX-203, hub/shock absorber with item no. 52.537.01 can be used. RBX-102 with item no. 52.537.03 is relevant for, among others, Yamaha 150–175 hp from 1978–1983 as well as documented Mercury and MerCruiser configurations. The hub is always selected based on the specific engine.
With the correct engine-specific RBX hub, the propeller can also be used for documented engines and drives from Mercury/Mariner, MerCruiser, Suzuki, Honda, Volvo Penta, Evinrude/Johnson/BRP, and OMC. Applications include various 4 3/4″ gearcases as well as 15- or 19-spline propeller shafts depending on the engine and drive. The propeller is intended for saltwater use.
