SOLAS 3-blade stainless steel propeller with interchangeable Rubex hub in the Rubex L3 Plus series has a diameter of 15 5/8", a pitch of 23", and left-hand rotation. The variant has manufacturer number 9572-156-23 and is intended for larger outboard motors and sterndrives with a compatible, engine-specific Rubex hub kit.
The propeller is made of stainless steel and has three blades. The Rubex L3 Plus series combines a large diameter and large blade area for large or heavy boats and is developed for use at both high and medium speeds. The actual performance and the correct pitch always depend on the boat, engine, load, and the engine's operating RPM.
The interchangeable Rubex hub system makes it possible to use the same propeller body with different engine-specific hub kits. The hub is not included and must be purchased separately. The propeller is designed for through-hub exhaust. Spline count, shaft fitment, and other mounting dimensions are determined by the chosen Rubex hub.
Compatibility and hub kits
For Suzuki DT150-DT225 2-stroke from 1986 and newer as well as DF150-DF300 4-stroke, SOLAS RBX-104 or RBX-104B is used. RBX-104 corresponds to item no. 52.537.05 and is intended for a 15-spline propeller shaft and 4 3/4" gearcase. The variant is also documented for Evinrude/Johnson 200/225 hp 4-stroke with RBX-104.
For Yamaha 300-350 hp 4-stroke, RBX-127, item no. 52.537.10, is used. For Mercury Verado 300/350 hp and Mercury Pro XS 225/250 hp with a 19-spline 1.25" shaft, RBX-123, item no. 52.537.11, is used. Other documented engine-specific hub options include RBX-102 for selected Mercury and MerCruiser installations as well as RBX-105 for Volvo Penta SX. The hub kit must always be selected according to the specific engine, shaft, and gearcase.
Installation
During installation, place the correct thrust washer on the lubricated propeller shaft, then mount the Rubex hub into the propeller and slide the propeller onto the shaft. The spacer, washer, nut, and locking device are installed according to the engine manufacturer's instructions. Always use the engine manufacturer's specified tightening torque and original locking method.
Always check the engine/drive model, shaft, spline count, gearcase, rotation direction, and required hub kit before purchasing. Also, verify that a 23" pitch is suitable for the boat's load and the engine's recommended RPM range.
