This Solas 3-blade stainless steel propeller with interchangeable Rubex hub is a right-hand rotation Rubex NS3 propeller with a diameter of 14" and a pitch of 21". The propeller is designed for outboard motors and sterndrives with a 4 3/4" gearcase, where it is combined with an engine-specific Rubex hub kit.
The Rubex NS3 is designed as a versatile propeller with a large blade area and properties that support good acceleration. The propeller features three blades and through-hub exhaust. The stainless steel construction is manufactured by investment casting, providing stable propeller blades and good resistance in a marine environment.
The interchangeable hub system allows the propeller to be adapted to different engine brands using the correct hub kit. The hub kit itself is not included and must be selected based on engine brand, model, year, gearcase, and propeller shaft. The propeller therefore does not have a fixed number of splines; this is determined by the selected hub.
Compatibility and hub kits
Documented hub kits include 52.537.01/RBX-203 for relevant Yamaha and Selva engines, 52.537.02/RBX-107 for relevant Honda engines, 52.537.03/RBX-102 for relevant Mercury, Mariner, and MerCruiser installations, 52.537.04/RBX-100 for relevant Evinrude, Johnson, and OMC installations, 52.537.05/RBX-104 for relevant Suzuki engines, and 52.537.06/RBX-105 for Volvo Penta SX and OMC Cobra SX. The Rubex hub system also includes documented applications for selected Nissan/Tohatsu BFT engines and OXE Diesel with the correct hub kit.
For Suzuki DT 150-225 HP and DF 150-300 HP, the RBX-104 hub system is used for a 15-spline propeller shaft and 4 3/4" gearcase. During this installation, the thrust washer, Rubex hub, and rear spacer are positioned according to the engine's installation requirements, after which the original shaft nut is tightened to the torque specified by the engine manufacturer. The propeller shaft must be greased before installation.
A pitch of 21" is not necessarily optimal for all mechanically compatible engines and boats. The final propeller selection must be adapted to the engine's recommended RPM range, boat type, load, and existing propeller.
The manufacturer number is 9531-140-21. This identifies the Rubex NS3 version with an interchangeable hub and must not be confused with engine-specific fixed-hub propellers with a similar diameter and pitch.
