Solas Rubex interchangeable propeller hub kit RBX-106 connects a compatible Rubex propeller to the propeller shaft of select Johnson, Evinrude, and BRP engines as well as OMC/Cobra Model 400. The kit is designed for New Saturn Rubex and HR TITAN Rubex propellers and is used with a 13-spline propeller shaft and a large 4¼″ gearcase.
The interchangeable RBX hub is manufactured from rubber with an aluminum core. The rubber construction dampens rattling and vibration in the drivetrain and allows for approximately 10° of elastic deflection. This contributes to smoother shifting and allows the hub to absorb impact if an underwater object is struck.
The kit includes a thrust washer 81013240, RBX hub 81023240, and rear spacer 81053240. The spacer is only installed if required for the specific engine or drive. The original propeller nut and cotter pin are not included and must be used in accordance with the engine or drive manual.
The RBX-106 is compatible with Evinrude, Johnson, and BRP 40–75 HP engines with a large gearcase from 1968 and newer, as well as 85–140 HP engines from 1969 and newer. It also fits OMC/Cobra Model 400 from 1978–1991. All applications require 13 splines and a 4¼″ gearcase. For 40–44 HP engines, the gearcase and propeller shaft must be checked individually before ordering.
For installation, shift the engine into neutral, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the spark plug or ignition coil lead. The thrust washer is installed first with the cone facing the shaft, after which the hub is inserted from the boat side of the propeller with the splines facing forward. The propeller shaft must be greased before sliding the propeller assembly onto the shaft. The propeller nut is tightened to the torque specified in the manual for the specific engine or drive.
