This Rubex interchangeable propeller hub kit from SOLAS is model RBX-100 for compatible Johnson, Evinrude, and BRP engines as well as selected OMC/Cobra sterndrives. The kit transfers torque between the 15-spline propeller shaft and a compatible Rubex propeller.
The RBX-100 features a rubber construction with anodized aluminum splines and is designed as a single unit without plastic parts. The elastic design allows for up to 10° of deflection, thereby dampening impact during gear shifting or contact with an object. The tight fit in the propeller hub also helps to reduce hub rattle and vibrations.
The hub kit is designed for SOLAS Rubex New Saturn and HR TITAN propellers. If a compatible propeller is damaged, the hub kit can be reused in a new propeller, provided the hub components themselves are not damaged.
Compatible engines and drives
The RBX-100 is designed for Evinrude, Johnson, and BRP 90-300 hp engines from 1991 and newer with a 15-spline propeller shaft and 4¾" gearcase. This includes Evinrude/Johnson 90-140 hp with large gearcase as well as 150-300 hp. The kit is also documented for OMC Model 800, Cobra, and King Cobra sterndrives from 1991-1994 with 15 splines.
The RBX-100 is not the correct variant for Evinrude/Johnson 90-300 hp from 1976-1990, 200/225 hp 4-stroke from 2004-2005, or Evinrude G2 150-300 hp from 2014 and newer. For engines over 200 hp, the specific engine, gearcase, and propeller application should be checked separately before installation.
Kit contents
The kit contains thrust washer 81013250, Rubex RBX hub 81023250, and rear spacer 81053250. Propeller, shaft nut, and cotter pin are not included. The rear spacer is only used when required for the specific engine or drive installation.
Installation
The thrust washer is placed correctly on the propeller shaft, after which the RBX hub is inserted into the propeller's hub cavity from the boat side with the splines facing forward. The hub is pressed carefully until it is flush with the hub cavity. The propeller shaft should be lubricated before installation, and the shaft nut and cotter pin should be installed according to the engine or drive manufacturer's instructions and specified tightening torque.
