This SOLAS Rubex RBX propeller hub kit, model RBX-123, is an interchangeable hub kit for compatible propellers on Mercury Verado 300 and 350 hp as well as Mercury Pro XS 225 and 250 hp engines. This variant is designed for a 1¼″ propeller shaft with 19 splines and is used in conjunction with relevant Rubex propellers.
The hub kit features a cushioning rubber hub with an anodized aluminum core and a one-piece construction. The rubber element allows for up to 10° of torsional deflection, providing smoother gear shifting and reducing shock, vibrations, hub rattle, and chatter in the propeller system. The hub is designed to fit securely in the propeller's hub cavity and must not rotate inside the propeller during normal operation.
The Rubex system allows for the propeller to be replaced while reusing the hub kit, provided the hub is not damaged. The RBX-123 belongs to propeller group E+ and can also be used for documented Mercury, Mariner, and MerCruiser configurations with a 1¼″ propeller shaft and 19 splines, as well as the COX Diesel 300 hp with 19 splines.
The kit includes RBX hub 73151601, rear spacer 81053161, washer 81043160, and washer/locking washer 81043161. Information regarding nut 8114114 varies between product versions, and the nut should therefore not be considered guaranteed to be included.
During assembly, the original thrust washer is placed on the propeller shaft first. The RBX hub is inserted from the rear of the propeller with the splines facing the front edge of the propeller and pressed in until it is flush with the hub cavity. Lubricate the propeller shaft, then install the propeller, spacer, and washers. The shaft nut must be tightened to the torque specified by the engine or drive manufacturer.
The engine must be in neutral, and ignition or spark plug connections must be disconnected during work. Always check the propeller shaft diameter, number of splines, engine or drive model, and the installation instructions before installation. Documented propellers for the kit include part numbers 52.532.08, 52.532.09, 52.532.50, 52.532.51, 52.532.52, 52.532.53, 52.532.54, and 52.532.55.
