This Rubex RBX propeller hub kit from Solas, model RBX-109, connects a compatible Rubex propeller to the propeller shaft of select Nissan and Tohatsu outboard motors. The hub kit is designed for New Saturn and HR TITAN Rubex propellers with interchangeable hubs and is selected based on the engine, gearcase, and propeller shaft spline count.
The RBX-109 features an aluminum core and a one-piece hub system using rubber instead of hard plastic. The rubber can deform up to 10° and dampens rattling, hub noise, and vibrations. The design also contributes to smoother gear shifting and can absorb some of the impact when striking underwater objects. An undamaged hub can be reused if the propeller itself is damaged.
The hub kit is designed for a 4¼-inch gearcase and a 15-spline propeller shaft. Compatibility includes Nissan/Tohatsu 60–140 hp from 1987 and newer, excluding 60A, 70A, and 70B. MFS75A–MFS115A are supported from 2020 and newer. Specified engine models include M60C, M70C, M90, M115, M120, M140A, M140A2, MD70B, MD90B, MD75C2, MD90C2, MD115A2, MFS75A, MFS90A, MFS115A, and MFS140A.
The kit contains thrust washer 81013350, RBX hub 81023150, and rear spacer 81053540. The original propeller nut and cotter pin are not included and must be reused when suitable. The Rubex propeller is a separate component. The current Solas hub number is 17015300, and the corresponding Tohatsu number is 9999RUBAHUBM.
For installation, put the engine in neutral and secure the ignition according to the engine manufacturer's instructions. Place the thrust washer correctly on the shaft taper, then insert the hub from the boat side of the propeller with the splines facing the leading edge of the propeller. The propeller shaft must be greased before installation. The propeller, spacer, original propeller nut, and cotter pin are installed and tightened according to the engine manual. The rubber construction does not require the retightening that may be necessary with hard plastic hubs.

The hub kit is linked to New Saturn Rubex propellers with item nos. 52.522.02, 52.522.22, 52.522.04, 52.522.24, 52.522.06, and 52.522.26. In certain 2003 Tohatsu configurations, a separate TDRBKT kit may be required. Check the specific engine, propeller configuration, and installation guide before assembly.
