Solas Rubex interchangeable propeller hub kit RBX-208 is a rubber-based mounting kit for compatible Yamaha outboard motors with a 15-spline propeller shaft and a 4¼″ gearcase. The hub kit forms the shock-absorbing connection between the propeller and the propeller shaft and is intended for Rubex propellers with an interchangeable hub, including documented New Saturn and HR TITAN propellers.
The Rubex hub features a splined metal core and an elastic rubber construction that allows for approximately 10° of deflection. This design reduces vibrations and rattling in the hub system, cushions the load during gear shifting, and helps protect the propeller shaft from shocks upon contact with underwater objects. The hub is secured in the propeller without slipping and can be reused if the propeller is damaged or replaced.
RBX-208 is the aluminum version and can be used with both aluminum and stainless steel propellers for general use. The aluminum core is designed for freshwater and occasional saltwater use. The separate bronze variant RBX-208B is intended for more demanding saltwater and high-load applications.
Compatibility
The hub kit fits Yamaha T50 from 1996, T60 from 2003, 60 hp excluding F60 from 1992-2005, and Yamaha 70-100 hp from 1984. Documented applications include, among others, F70, 75, F75, 80, F80, 85, 90, F90, and F100 within the specified years. F75B, F90B, and F100B are explicitly excluded. The engine must have a 15-spline propeller shaft, a 4¼″ gearcase, and through-propeller exhaust.
Documented New Saturn propellers include item no. 52.522.02, 52.522.22, 52.522.04, 52.522.24, 52.522.06, and 52.522.26. For Yamaha 115 hp 4-stroke, RBX-203 with item no. 52.537.01 must be used instead. Propeller and hub kit are sold separately.
Kit Contents
The kit includes thrust washer 81013340, RBX hub insert 81023151, rear spacer 81053340, and flat washer 81061140. Original prop nut and cotter pin are not included and must be reused or procured according to the engine manufacturer's specifications. The kit number is RBX-208, and the aluminum hub number is 17015302.
Installation
The thrust washer is installed first on the propeller shaft with the taper correctly positioned against the shaft taper. The hub insert is inserted from the rear or boat side of the propeller with the splines facing the front of the propeller and is gently pressed in until it is flush with the hub cavity. The propeller shaft must be lubricated before installation. Then, the propeller, rear spacer, flat washer, original prop nut, and cotter pin are installed. The tightening torque must follow the engine manual.
