Stainless steel Duoprop propeller set from SOLAS in variant C4 is a complete, counter-rotating propeller set for Volvo Penta Aquamatic DP280 and DP290 drives. The set consists of one front and one rear propeller and corresponds to Volvo Penta OEM reference 3857495.
Both propellers have three blades. The front propeller measures 15″ in diameter with a 19″ pitch and has 27 splines, while the rear one measures 13″ in diameter with a 19″ pitch and has 19 splines. The combination of the two propellers defines the C4 variant and must not be mixed with propellers from other size codes.
The propellers are made of stainless steel and feature hubs with pressed-in rubber bushings. The construction is developed with a focus on high thrust, speed, as well as resistance to impact and corrosion. The front and rear propellers work counter-rotating as a unified Duoprop system.
The front propeller has SOLAS component number 8532-150-19, and the rear has component number 8531-130-19. The current original Volvo Penta C4 set has OEM no. 3588224, which replaces 3857495. Original individual parts are registered as 3587866 for the front and 3587872 for the rear; older references are 3857461 and 3857465.
Installation and propeller selection
The set is used with relevant original Volvo Penta mounting hardware. The choice of cone kit and locking parts depends, among other things, on whether the propeller shaft is designed for M16 or M20 hardware. C4 must be selected based on drive, engine, gear ratio, maximum engine RPM, and boat load.
