This voltage-sensitive relay (VSR) with emergency parallel function automatically manages the connection between two separate batteries or battery banks in a 12 V DC system. It is designed for installations with a main or starter battery and a separate service or auxiliary battery.
The battery coupler monitors the voltage of both battery banks and keeps them connected or isolated depending on whether a charging source is active. The charging source can be the engine alternator or an external battery charger. During charging, the starter battery is prioritized, and once it reaches 13.2 V, the coupler enables charging of the secondary service battery bank.
The unit is rated for a maximum continuous current of 275 A and a maximum intermittent current of 455 A. The automatic control allows two battery banks to be charged from the same charging source while keeping the banks isolated when no charge is detected.
The emergency parallel function allows for manual parallel connection of the battery banks. The function can be activated directly via the rotary knob on the unit or remotely from the instrument panel using the optional ON/OFF switch, item no. 14.386.09.
The product measures 67 × 67 × 95 mm and can be mounted either flush or surface-mounted. The two mounting options provide flexibility for placement in the boat's electrical installation.
