This StingRay hydrofoil stabilizer in the AIRO series is a black, two-piece model for 4–350 hp engines. The AIRO-1 mounts to the engine's anti-cavitation plate and is intended for boats and inflatables up to 6 m.
The hydrofoil is designed to help the boat plane faster, improve acceleration from a standstill, and keep the boat on plane at a lower speed. The design also contributes to increased stability and can reduce porpoising, chine walking, cavitation, and ventilation. The improved planing can also reduce fuel consumption and provide the operator with better visibility at lower speeds.
The AIRO-1 consists of a left and a right wing in black plastic. The model features lift level 1, which provides a standard level of lift. The hydrofoil is made in the USA.
Installation is carried out using StingRay's 4-Drill system. The wings are pushed forward onto each side of the anti-cavitation plate, after which the pre-drilled holes are used as a template for four 1/4" drill holes – two holes for each wing. The mounting kit includes four stainless 1/4-20 × 1" bolts and four nylon lock nuts.
When mounting, the engine must be turned off, the kill switch must be disconnected, and the gear selector must be in neutral. After installation, the propeller must be turned slowly by hand to ensure there is no contact between the propeller and the hydrofoil.
