This StingRay hydrofoil stabilizer in the Classic 2 series is the Senior model SR2-1 for most outboards and sterndrives from 40–300 HP. It is mounted on the engine's anti-ventilation plate and is intended for all boat types where faster planing and better stability during navigation are desired.
The hydrofoil increases lift at the stern, bringing the bow down faster and allowing the boat to plane in up to 50% less time. The design also helps the boat maintain planing at lower speeds and can reduce cavitation, ventilation, porpoising, and chinewalking. This can provide better visibility from the helm, more stable navigation, and lower fuel consumption.
The Classic 2 Senior is made of plastic as a one-piece hydrofoil. The wings' textured surface is designed to limit water resistance, and the model features discreet graphics. The lift level is classified as level 2, Moderate. The product is black, made in the USA, and measures approx. 59.7 cm in length and 45.7 cm in depth.
Installation is carried out with four bolts through four drilled 1/4" holes in the anti-ventilation plate. The hydrofoil is positioned as far forward as possible, and the underside must lie flush against the plate. The existing mounting holes in the hydrofoil can be used as a drilling template.
Mounting hardware includes four nylon lock nuts, four rubber washers, two stainless 1/4-20 × 1.5" bolts for the rear holes, and two stainless 1/4-20 × 1.0" bolts for the front holes. Installation requires an electric drill, a 1/4" drill bit, and a Phillips screwdriver. After tightening, the propeller must be turned slowly by hand to check for clear passage between the propeller and the hydrofoil.
For Volvo engines with a hollow anti-ventilation plate, separate Classic 2 Senior versions are available; compatibility with this standard variant is therefore not documented. Visible flow marks around the mounting holes are normal traces from the molding process and do not affect the product's strength or function.
