Heat-shrinkable polyethylene adhesive tape in the size 96 mm × 55 m is intended for joining, sealing, and repairing polyethylene shrink wrap. It can be used for transport protection and long-term outdoor storage of boats, aircraft, trucks, and industrial equipment.
The tape is single-sided and constructed with a strong, UV-stabilized LDPE backing and a pressure-sensitive, rubber-based adhesive. The construction provides quick initial tack and very good adhesion to PE film and heat-shrinkable wrap. The conformable backing allows it to follow irregular surfaces, and no release liner is used.
The adhesive tape can be used for splicing film, sealing joints and edges, and repairing tears, holes, and other damage. It is also suitable for sealing around doors, access openings, vents, and air intakes installed in the shrink wrap.
The total tape thickness is 0.229 mm, of which the PE backing makes up 0.191 mm. Adhesion to steel is 45 N/cm, tensile strength is 43 daN/cm, and elongation at break is 120%. The tape is resistant to abrasion, UV radiation, weathering, moisture, mold, solvents, and chemical influences. It can normally be removed cleanly from most surfaces without staining or discoloring the substrate.
The application temperature is 5–50 °C, and the tape can withstand 80 °C for short periods of up to 30 minutes. It should be stored at approximately 16–27 °C and 40–60% relative humidity. The stated shelf life is 12 months from the shipping date. The manufacturer reference is 42644.
