This QBE PVC fender profile from Tessilmare is model QBE 90 in grey RAL 7047 and is supplied as a 12 m roll. The profile protects the boat's hull/deck joint against impact and contact loads and can be used on recreational boats, commercial vessels, and military boats.
The patented construction consists of two interlocking components made of marine-grade PVC. The base is screwed onto the boat, after which the top insert is pressed or tapped into place with a rubber mallet. The top insert hides the mounting screws and gives the profile its characteristic square shape.
The QBE 90 has a nominal front dimension of 90 mm and extends 46.5 mm from the mounting surface. The outer width of the base is 75.5 mm, while the lower bearing surface is 62 mm. The profile is intended for flat surfaces as well as boxed and sandwich joints between hull and deck. For a sandwich joint, the recess of the base can be placed over or under the joint as required.
During installation, the roll is straightened around or along the boat, and the base is screwed into place. The profile can be mounted without heating, but preheating can make adjustment and bending easier. It can, for example, be heated in water at 40-60 °C for 30-60 minutes. For difficult bends, controlled hot air can be used.
For fastening, A4/316 stainless steel self-drilling screws with oval head/TGS, Phillips no. 10, head diameter of 9.5 mm and shaft diameter of 4.8 mm are recommended. Suitable screw standards are DIN 7983, UNI 6956, or ISO 7051, and a 4.0 or 4.2 mm drill bit can be used. A2 screws are not recommended for the installation.
The grey QBE 90 end cap with item no. 44.105.02 is purchased separately. An optional, pre-drilled mounting profile in 316L stainless steel with item no. 44.047.01 can be used as reinforcement. On aluminum boats, aluminum accessories are recommended over a stainless mounting profile. The stainless mounting profile and end caps are not part of this item.
