Radial 30 outer PVC fender profile from Tessilmare is the black, visible and shock-absorbing part of a two-piece boat rub rail system. The profile is supplied on a 24 m roll and protects the edge of the boat hull against contact with, for example, quays, pilings, and other vessels.
The semi-rigid PVC profile is mounted on a separate, rigid Radial 30 mounting base. The base is first fastened to the hull with screws or blind rivets, after which the profile is pressed or rolled onto the base's retaining fins. The assembly does not require welding, and the Radial 30 profile can usually be installed cold. Storing it in a warm environment before installation can make the material easier to work with.
The profile has catalog dimensions of 30 mm in height and 17 mm in projection, as well as a nominal size designation of 32 mm. The loose component has an extended cross-width of 34 mm and an outer radius of R17. When the profile and base are assembled, the system drawing shows a total projection of 19.5 mm. The dimensions originate from different measuring points and should therefore not be considered as one single set of product dimensions.
The required mounting base is ordered separately as item no. 44.032.05 or manufacturer no. 130-141-006 and is supplied in 2 m lengths. Both the base and the outer profile must be oriented with the longest lip facing downwards so that the joint between the hull and deck is covered correctly. During installation, it is recommended to stretch the profile by approximately 2–3 cm per meter. The profile ends are secured with one or two screws and can be finished with suitable end caps or joint covers.
For mounting the base, blind rivets or self-tapping screws in A4/316L stainless steel can be used. For Radial 30, a No. 6 Phillips screw with a 6.8 mm head diameter, 3.5 mm shank diameter, and flat or countersunk head is recommended. Direct mounting on a flat surface should only be performed after technical assessment, as the system is designed for mounting over a hull/deck joint.
The black surface corresponds to RAL 9004. The PVC profile is intended for maritime exposure to salt spray, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations. It can be cleaned with a liquid degreaser; special PVC cleaners must be diluted correctly to avoid permanent damage. The two-piece construction makes it possible to replace the outer profile without necessarily removing an intact mounting base.
