This PVC fender profile is the black, exterior profile insert for the Tessilmare Radial 40 fender profile system. The profile is supplied as a continuous 24 m roll and protects the joint between the hull and deck from impact and wear.
Radial 40 is a patented, two-part system consisting of a hidden, rigid mounting rail and this soft to semi-rigid PVC profile insert. The item includes only the exterior profile. The separate mounting rail, item no. 44.042.05, is required to form a complete fender profile.
The profile insert has a width along the hull side of 40.5 mm and an exterior radius of R20.0 mm. Together with the correct Radial 40 rail, the total projection from the mounting surface is 24.0 mm. The profile weighs 510 g per meter, corresponding to an estimated net weight of approx. 12.24 kg for the roll.
The separate rail is mounted on the hull with screws or blind rivets. The locking edges of the PVC profile are opened by bending the profile back, after which it is pressed over the retaining wings of the rail. Installation is performed without welding, and the Radial 40 profile can be mounted cold. A warm working environment can make the material easier to shape.
The longer lip must face downwards so that the joint between the hull and deck is covered correctly. When installing around the bow, the profile should be stretched approx. 2-3 cm per meter for a tight fit. The profile ends are secured with one or two screws and can be finished with an end cap or joint cover. Mounting on a completely flat surface requires prior technical clarification with Tessilmare.
For fastening the separate Radial 40 rail, use self-drilling A4/316L screws with a flat head, Phillips no. 8, 7.5 mm head diameter and 3.9 mm shaft diameter, or suitable blind rivets. The PVC surface can be cleaned with a liquid degreaser. Special PVC cleaners must be diluted correctly to avoid permanent damage.
