This Tessilmare Radial 65 PVC fender profile insert is the black, exterior component for the patented, two-part Radial 65 fender profile system. The insert is supplied as a continuous 24 m roll and protects and finishes the joint between the hull and deck. This item includes only the soft, exterior PVC insert; the rigid, concealed mounting rail is ordered separately.
The profile is manufactured from soft to semi-rigid PVC in black RAL 9004. The loose insert has a proven transverse width of 62.2 mm and an external profile radius of R31.1 mm. Radial 65 is the nominal system size, while the traditional system geometry indicates 65 mm height and 29 mm projection.
The insert is mounted on the separate Radial 65 mounting rail with item no. 44.065.05 and manufacturer no. 130-141-021. The rail is first attached to the hull with screws or blind rivets, after which the PVC insert is pressed or rolled over the rail's locking tabs without welding. For full coverage of the roll's 24 m, this corresponds in length to 12 rails of 2 m each before adjustment and potential waste.
During installation, the long lip must face downwards, and the insert should be routed from the transom towards the bow. The Radial 65 insert must be preheated for 30–60 minutes in water at 40–60 °C, alternatively in a suitable industrial oven or in sunlight. It should be stretched approximately 2–3 cm per meter during installation, after which the ends are fixed with one or two screws and finished with end or joint covers. High-temperature ovens and microwaves must not be used.
For fastening the mounting rail, use self-tapping A4/316 stainless steel screws with a flat TPS head, Phillips no. 10, head diameter 9.5 mm, and shank diameter 4.8 mm. The recommended drill diameter is 4–4.2 mm, and the fastening points are placed at intervals of approximately 15–20 cm. The rail can be shaped and mounted cold with a minimum bending radius of 80 mm. The system should not be mounted directly on a flat surface without prior technical clarification.
The modular design makes it possible to replace a scratched or damaged insert without necessarily removing the existing rail. The PVC surface can be cleaned with liquid degreaser. Specialized PVC cleaner must be diluted correctly to avoid permanent damage. Relevant finishing parts include item no. 44.055.01, stainless steel end cap 44.484.03, and stainless steel joint cover 44.042.17.
