This soft PVC fender profile is the black, exterior insert for the Tessilmare Radial 80 system. The profile is supplied as a continuous 24 m roll and has a nominal width of 80 mm. It protects the boat's hull from impacts and abrasion when mounted on the corresponding rigid mounting rail.
Radial 80 is a patented, two-part system consisting of a hidden Duralene® mounting rail and this soft, semi-rigid PVC profile. This item includes the PVC profile only. The necessary black mounting rail, item no. 44.080.05, is supplied separately in 2 m lengths and is fastened to the hull with screws or blind rivets. The PVC profile is then pressed onto the rail, concealing the mounting base.
The profile is black with color reference RAL 9004. The cross-section has a nominal width of 80 mm and a geometric radius of R40 mm. The fully assembled construction with rail and PVC profile has a total height of 42 mm. This system dimension should not be confused with the height of the loose profile. The profile weight is 1.735 kg/m, corresponding to a calculated net weight of approx. 41.64 kg for the roll.
During installation, the long lip on both the mounting rail and the PVC profile must face downwards to cover the hull/deck joint. The Radial 80 profile must be preheated for 30–60 minutes at 40–60 °C, for example in warm water or an industrial oven. High-temperature ovens and microwaves must not be used. During installation, it is recommended to stretch the profile approx. 2–3 cm per meter to achieve a tight fit on the rail.
The mounting rail can be fastened with A4/316 screws or blind rivets. When using screws, A4/316L self-drilling, flat-head screws are recommended, Phillips no. 10, head diameter 9.5 mm and shaft diameter 4.8 mm. A2 screws are not recommended. The ends of the profile are secured with one or two screws and finished with a suitable end cap or joint cover. Direct installation on a completely flat surface requires a separate technical assessment.
For finishing, the stainless steel terminal kit with item no. 44.484.04 can be used, while item no. 44.042.18 is a stainless steel joint cover for Radial 80. The PVC surface can be cleaned with a liquid degreaser. Special agents for PVC must be diluted correctly to avoid permanent damage.
