Tessilmare SPHAERA standard PVC-base for fender profile in size 25 is a white mounting base for the SPHAERA 25 system's separate stainless steel fender/rub rail profile. The base is supplied as a continuous 24 m roll and forms the substrate between the hull and the stainless steel profile.
The PVC base is part of the patented SPHAERA system, used as a longitudinal fender and rub rail along the side of the boat's hull. The standard version has a minimum bending radius of 30 mm, which allows the base to be routed along the curves of the hull. The designation SPHAERA 25 refers to the size class of the appropriate stainless steel insert and is not the external width of the PVC base.
During installation, the PVC base is positioned along the boat, after which the pre-drilled stainless steel profile is fastened through both the profile and the base using the same screws. The base can be temporarily held in place with vertical strips of tape. Heating in a warm environment for approximately 8–12 hours before installation can make the PVC material easier to shape and install.
For fastening, use A4 self-tapping screws with an oval head, Phillips no. 10, head diameter 9.5 mm, and shaft diameter 4.8 mm. The prescribed screw standards are DIN 7983, UNI 6956, or ISO 7051, and the recommended drill diameter is 4–4.2 mm. A2 screws should not be used. Silicone in the screw holes can facilitate driving the screws and help seal the holes.
The matching stainless steel SPHAERA 25 profile has item no. 44.060.25 and is supplied separately in 3 m lengths. The system can be finished with joint cover 44.063.25 and end cap 44.065.25 for the standard base. The PVC surface should be cleaned with a liquid degreaser; improperly diluted cleaning agents can damage the material.
