SPHAERA standard PVC base for fender profile from Tessilmare is a white, flexible mounting base for the SPHAERA 35 system. The base is supplied as a 24 m roll and is mounted along the boat's hull/deck joint as a backing for the corresponding stainless steel protective profile.
The standard base is made of PVC and has a documented width of 50 mm and a maximum depth of approx. 16.8 mm in the drawn cross-section. The nominal system size is 35 mm and describes the corresponding SPHAERA profile. The base has a minimum bending radius of 75 mm, making it possible to follow the curves along the hull.
The base is intended for the stainless steel SPHAERA 35 profile strip with item no. 44.060.35, which is supplied separately in 3 m lengths. For joints between the profile sections, use connecting piece 44.063.35, while end cap 44.065.35 is intended for the SPHAERA 35 with standard base.
During installation, the PVC base is positioned along the entire desired area and can be temporarily held in place with vertical strips of tape. Storing or heating the base for 8–12 hours before installation can make the flexible base easier to handle. Any excess PVC material after fitting can be trimmed with a utility knife.
The recommended fastening is A4-grade self-tapping screws with an oval head, Phillips no. 10, head diameter of 9.5 mm and shaft diameter of 4.8 mm. The screws must comply with DIN 7983, UNI 6956, or ISO 7051, and the recommended drill/bit diameter is 4.0–4.2 mm. A2 screws should not be used. Silicone in the screw holes can facilitate insertion and contribute to sealing.
The PVC surface can be cleaned with a liquid degreaser. Incorrectly diluted cleaning agents for PVC can permanently damage the material and should therefore be avoided. SPHAERA is a patented profile system.
